The famous Wild Blue

The Wild Blue is a very challenging trekking route that touches the crags on the coast of the town of Baunei. Fascinated by this fabulous coastline, in 1987 mountaineers Mario Verin and Peppino Cicalò followed the paths of the shepherds and their flocks, passing along the old mule trails of nineteenth century coal miners, and blazed a difficult-to-find track through the limestone rocks and vegetation of the Supramonte.

The path is as fascinating as it is difficult to complete: fifty kilometers between coves and mule trails starting from Pedra Longa to Cala Sisine suspended on the edge of a high sea cliff. The route in the spring or autumn takes many days to complete and includes walking, climbing, rappelling, wading through creeks, caves, cliffs and rivers, surrounded by the aromatic scents of the Sardinian vegetation.
